Hope
Ministries

Hope
Ministries is the hospitals HIV/AIDS counselling service. The team go out to the
surrounding villages to educate them about HIV/AIDS; providing information about
how the disease is transmitted and safe sex. In the hospital they counsel
patients before they are tested for the virus and then provide ongoing support
for those who are infected.
They help those who suffer from
AIDS to look after themselves; setting them up in self-help groups and income
generating projects like rabbit breeding and fish farming. The money raised
helps provide for their families after they die – these people can’t afford the
expensive retroviral drugs that prolong life in the West.

AIDS
has resulted in many children being orphaned. Hope keeps in touch with these
orphans and tries to find ways of looking after them. The Sponsor an Orphan
scheme has been set up to help support these orphans and to educate them.
Further details can be found on the scheme’s website.
